Drawing technique:
Charcoal and conté is black coal: simply said, pieces of burned wood. Conté is more black than charcoal, due to more added 'fat' as a subsance.
When finished, the drawing is fixated to prevent damage.

The portrait is built in gray layers and contrast between them. The whites in the portrait are blank spaces of the paper.

Acidfree drawingpaper Hahnemüle.
